Singapore public holidays 2026

Government Gazette notification No. 2258 of 2025 lists 11 public holidays; 1 of the 11 falls on a Saturday and 3 on Sundays. A public holiday on a Sunday makes the next day a public holiday (Mondays 1 June, 10 August and 9 November); a Saturday holiday gives no Monday holiday, but Employment Act employees on a 5-day week get another day off or an extra day’s salary for it (see the FAQ).

Singapore public holidays 2026: questions

What are the public holidays in Singapore in 2026?

Government Gazette notification No. 2258 of 2025 (first published 16 June 2025) lists 11 public holidays: New Year’s Day (Thursday, 1 January), Chinese New Year (Tuesday, 17 February and Wednesday, 18 February), Hari Raya Puasa (Saturday, 21 March), Good Friday (Friday, 3 April), Labour Day (Friday, 1 May), Hari Raya Haji (Wednesday, 27 May), Vesak Day (Sunday, 31 May), National Day (Sunday, 9 August), Deepavali (Sunday, 8 November) and Christmas Day (Friday, 25 December). Mondays 1 June, 10 August and 9 November are public holidays too, because Vesak Day, National Day and Deepavali fall on a Sunday.

How many public holidays are there in 2026?

11 public holidays, plus three Monday holidays: 14 days off in all. 10 of them fall on a weekday (Monday to Friday); 1 falls on a Saturday and 3 on Sundays.

Are 1 June, 10 August and 9 November 2026 public holidays?

Yes. Vesak Day (31 May), National Day (9 August) and Deepavali (8 November) fall on a Sunday. Under section 4(2) of the Holidays Act, when a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the next day that is not itself a public holiday is a public holiday, so Mondays 1 June, 10 August and 9 November are public holidays (Government Gazette notification No. 2258 of 2025 says so too).

What if a public holiday falls on a Saturday?

There is no Monday holiday for it. In 2026, Hari Raya Puasa (21 March) falls on a Saturday. According to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), employees covered by the Employment Act on a 5-day work week, whose Saturday is a non-working day, are entitled to another day off or one extra day’s salary for that public holiday; if a public holiday falls on the rest day (Sunday), the next working day is a paid public holiday. Employees not covered by the Employment Act follow their employment contract.

Are the Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji 2026 dates confirmed?

Yes. Both were public holidays on the gazetted dates: Hari Raya Puasa on Saturday, 21 March 2026 and Hari Raya Haji on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, as Government Gazette notification No. 2258 of 2025 gave them with no qualification.

When is Chinese New Year 2026?

Tuesday, 17 February and Wednesday, 18 February 2026 (two public holidays).

When is Hari Raya Puasa 2026?

Saturday, 21 March 2026 (no Monday holiday follows a Saturday holiday). Hari Raya Haji is on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

When is Deepavali 2026?

Sunday, 8 November 2026. It falls on a Sunday, so Monday 9 November is a public holiday.

When is Vesak Day 2026?

Sunday, 31 May 2026. It falls on a Sunday, so Monday 1 June is a public holiday.

What are the long weekends in 2026?

6 long weekends with no leave: Good Friday, Fri, 3 Apr – Sun, 5 Apr (3 days); Labour Day, Fri, 1 May – Sun, 3 May (3 days); Vesak Day, Sat, 30 May – Mon, 1 Jun (3 days); National Day, Sat, 8 Aug – Mon, 10 Aug (3 days); Deepavali, Sat, 7 Nov – Mon, 9 Nov (3 days); Christmas, Fri, 25 Dec – Sun, 27 Dec (3 days). With leave: New Year: take Fri, 2 Jan for 4 days off (Thu, 1 Jan – Sun, 4 Jan); Chinese New Year: take Mon, 16 Feb for 5 days off (Sat, 14 Feb – Wed, 18 Feb); Chinese New Year: take Mon, 16 Feb; Thu, 19 Feb; Fri, 20 Feb for 9 days off (Sat, 14 Feb – Sun, 22 Feb); Hari Raya Haji and Vesak Day: take Mon, 25 May; Tue, 26 May; Thu, 28 May; Fri, 29 May for 10 days off (Sat, 23 May – Mon, 1 Jun); Hari Raya Haji and Vesak Day: take Thu, 28 May; Fri, 29 May for 6 days off (Wed, 27 May – Mon, 1 Jun); Christmas and New Year: take Mon, 28 Dec; Tue, 29 Dec; Wed, 30 Dec; Thu, 31 Dec for 10 days off (Fri, 25 Dec 2026 – Sun, 3 Jan 2027).

Is the day after National Day a public holiday?

In 2026, yes: National Day falls on Sunday, 9 August, so Monday 10 August is a public holiday (Holidays Act, section 4(2)).

When are the school holidays in 2026?

MOE primary and secondary schools (and MOE Kindergartens): March vacation 14–22 March, June vacation 30 May – 28 June, September vacation 5–13 September and year-end vacation 21 November – 31 December; school holidays on Monday, 6 July (for Youth Day, Sunday 5 July), Friday, 4 September (Teachers’ Day) and Friday, 2 October (Children’s Day, primary schools); schools are also closed on Monday, 23 March (school day off-in-lieu). Junior colleges and Millennia Institute have other dates at the start and end of the year (see the MOE press release). Tick “MOE school holidays” (“School hols” on phones) above the calendar to show them.

Do I get extra pay if I work on a public holiday?

According to MOM, an employee covered by the Employment Act who works on a public holiday is entitled to an extra day’s salary at the basic rate of pay. By mutual agreement, the employer and employee can instead substitute another working day for the public holiday; employees not covered by Part 4 of the Employment Act can agree on time off. Employees not covered by the Employment Act follow their employment contract. Details: MOM’s page “Public holidays: entitlement and pay”.

How many working days are there in 2026?

251 working days (Monday to Friday) after the 10 public holidays that fall on a weekday. Per month: January 21, February 18, March 22, April 21, May 19, June 21, July 23, August 20, September 22, October 22, November 20, December 22. Shift and five-and-a-half-day workers count differently.

When were the 2027 public holidays announced?

On 18 June 2026, in Government Gazette notification No. 3467 of 2026; they are on the 2027 calendar.

Can I print the 2026 calendar?

Yes. Free A4 PDFs: a year calendar in landscape (Sunday or Monday start, with or without the MOE school holidays), a year calendar in portrait and a monthly calendar of 12 pages (Sunday start), with every public holiday written in full. They are vector files, so they print sharp.

Sources and method

All sources checked 22 October 2026.

Public holiday dates come from the Government Gazette notifications and the Holidays Act; the pay rules from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM); the school holidays from the Ministry of Education (MOE). The layout, the PDFs, the working-day counts and the long-weekend and leave ideas are made by ToolNeko; this is not a government publication.

Working days: Monday to Friday minus the public holidays that fall on a weekday; many workplaces work a five-day week, while shift and five-and-a-half-day workers differ. A public holiday on a Sunday makes the next day a public holiday (Holidays Act, section 4(2)); a public holiday on a Saturday stays on its date. The MOE school holidays never change the working days. Long weekends and leave plans assume Saturday and Sunday off.
