About ToolNeko
Small tools, with one person accountable for the details.
ToolNeko is an independently designed and maintained collection of free browser tools. The English collection covers focused text, measurement, fraction, and ratio tasks that should be quick, clear, and easy to verify.
Who maintains ToolNeko?
I am 廖洧杰 (洧杰), president of HexSchool and a long-time web developer and programming educator. ToolNeko is my independent project: I choose the tools, design and implement them, review the explanations, and handle corrections.
The HexSchool affiliation helps readers verify who I am, but ToolNeko is not presented as an official HexSchool product or endorsement. You can also find recent project notes at @tool.neko on Threads.
Why build another tool site?
Many small tasks are surrounded by unnecessary setup, unclear results, or pages that repeat the same sentence around an ad. ToolNeko takes the opposite approach: one public page should complete one real job, then explain its method, limitations, and next useful step.
The English collection is deliberately small. New pages are not added simply because a keyword exists; a page needs a working product, distinct user intent, useful supporting content, and a maintenance path.
How tools are tested
- Pure calculation and transformation logic is checked with automated examples and boundary cases.
- Primary interactions are tested with keyboard and mobile-sized layouts, including visible errors and copy feedback.
- Tool input stays in the browser unless a page clearly says otherwise; analytics events use fixed identifiers rather than entered text or values.
- After a correction, the relevant tests and rendered page are checked again before the change is published.
Sources, dates, and corrections
Technical claims prefer primary sources such as the Unicode Consortium, NIST, or the SI system. Tool pages show a last-reviewed date and list the specific references used where a standard or conversion definition matters. Examples and use-case labels written by ToolNeko are identified as practical guidance, not official definitions.
If a result, label, source, or explanation looks wrong, use the contact page. I first try to reproduce the issue using the page URL, input, and expected result. Confirmed errors are corrected and rechecked; uncertain claims are labeled or removed instead of being presented as fact.
How the site is funded
ToolNeko is free to use and may display Google AdSense ads on individual tool pages. Advertising does not determine a tool's formula, result, or recommendation. Ads are kept outside the primary input and result controls, and an ad appearing on a page does not mean Google reviewed or endorsed its content.
