Play a solo Hangman round
The page starts with a local word from Animals at Easy difficulty. Change either selector to begin a fresh round, or press New word. A letter can be guessed with the on-screen keyboard or a physical A–Z key. Repeating a letter does not add another mistake.
Every distinct wrong letter adds one part to the drawing. The sixth wrong letter ends the round and reveals the answer. Correctly revealing every letter wins; spaces and hyphens are visible throughout.
Use a private same-device custom word
Custom mode is designed for two people sharing one screen. Player 1 types a 2–40 character English word or phrase into a password-style field and presses Hide & play. The input is cleared before the puzzle appears, so Player 2 can take over without joining a room or signing in.
The answer exists only in JavaScript memory for the current round. It is not added to page text before the round ends, and ToolNeko does not put it in analytics, storage, a URL, or any request.
What the 360-prompt list contains
Solo mode reuses ToolNeko's maintained drawing-game prompt list: Animals, Objects, Actions, and Places, each split into Easy, Medium, and Hard with 30 entries per category-and-difficulty cell. Single words and short phrases are supported.
The source profile was introduced at commit 90af70d63f6481b912f8dfb800a0dd0d6fe0ef4e. The reviewed src/data/pictionaryWords.ts file has SHA-256 1ffa7bc6fad5aa5302137320d99e2ec7c56d114b9af022cb7271ce989f86d79f. It is a ToolNeko-maintained local list with no third-party game-list dependency. It is not an exhaustive dictionary, a current-frequency ranking, or a guarantee for every audience, and it contains no definition data.
Frequently asked questions
How do I play Hangman?
Guess one letter at a time. Correct letters appear in every matching position; six different wrong letters end the round. Spaces and hyphens are shown from the start and never count as guesses.
Can two people play with a custom word?
Yes. Choose Custom word, have Player 1 enter a word or phrase in the masked field, then hand the device to Player 2. The field clears before guessing starts, and no room or account is required.
How many Hangman words are included?
Solo mode uses 360 ToolNeko-maintained prompts: 30 entries in every combination of Animals, Objects, Actions, or Places and Easy, Medium, or Hard. It is a compact game list, not an exhaustive dictionary or frequency ranking.
Does the game include definitions or dictionary hints?
No. The only solo hint is the chosen category and difficulty. The local prompt list does not contain definitions, so the game does not invent or fetch them.
Are custom words saved or uploaded?
No. The secret is held only in page memory for the current round. It is cleared from the input before play and is never placed in the URL, browser storage, analytics, or a network request.
