Random Object Generator
Generate a unique list of 1 to 128 everyday objects from all items or one of seven categories.
Private generation: the object dataset and selection run in this tab. The tool does not put settings or results in the URL, storage, cookies, or a network request. Analytics receives only the action name and a fixed error code, never the category, quantity, or generated names.
Generate a short list in three steps
- Keep All categories for variety, or narrow the pool to one category.
- Choose a whole-number quantity from 1 to 128.
- Select Generate objects or press Enter in the quantity field. Use Regenerate for another batch, Copy list to keep the names, or Clear to reset the tool.
The pool count tells you how many objects are eligible before you generate. Each category currently has 70 items, so a category request above 70 returns every eligible item once and explains the requested-versus-returned limit.
Seven categories, one maintained local dataset
This page uses dataset version 2026-09-08, containing exactly 490 objects. The build verifies that this matches the maintained local dataset. Each entry has a stable ID, a unique normalized name, and exactly one category. The categories are Household, Kitchen, Office & School, Outdoors, Tools, Clothing, and Toys & Hobbies.
The list focuses on concrete everyday nouns such as a colander, binder, rain jacket, or puzzle cube. Categories are organizational labels, so an object that could fit more than one place is assigned to one category only.
Why a batch has no duplicate objects
Generation first filters the local dataset by category. It then samples without replacement, removing each selected position from the remaining choices for that batch. A list of 10 therefore contains 10 different dataset items. Regenerating starts a new batch, so an earlier object may appear again.
The index selection uses browser Web Crypto bytes with rejection sampling. Values in the uneven tail are discarded before the remainder is taken, avoiding modulo bias. A bounded retry guard stops a defective random source from hanging the page. If the browser cannot provide usable random bytes, no object is selected and the tool displays an actionable error.
What the copied list contains
Copy list produces a plain numbered list of the currently displayed object names. It does not include internal IDs or category metadata. If clipboard access is blocked, the same text appears in a selectable field for manual copying.
Frequently asked questions
How do I generate random objects?
Choose All categories or one category, enter a whole number from 1 to 128, and select Generate objects. Select Regenerate for a new batch with the same settings. Each batch contains no duplicate item. If a category has fewer items than requested, the tool returns every available item once and labels the limit.
What kinds of objects are included?
The local list contains everyday concrete nouns across Household, Kitchen, Office & School, Outdoors, Tools, Clothing, and Toys & Hobbies. The eligible count changes with the category filter.
Can the same object appear twice?
Not within one generated batch. The tool samples without replacement, so every stable item appears at most once in that list. A later regeneration can include an item seen in an earlier batch.
How are objects selected?
The page requests random bytes from the browser's Web Crypto interface and uses rejection sampling before selecting from the eligible pool. This avoids a biased direct remainder mapping. If Web Crypto is unavailable, the page stops and explains what to try instead of substituting another source.
Does the object list leave my browser?
The dataset and selection run locally in this page. Copy list writes the displayed names to your clipboard when available. The tool does not put the category, quantity, names, or copied list in the URL, storage, cookies, or analytics.
