Create a QR code without uploading the payload
Choose Text to encode spaces, line breaks, punctuation, and Unicode exactly as entered. Choose HTTP(S) URL when the scanner should open an absolute web address. URL mode requires an explicit http:// or https:// address and rejects spaces and control characters; it still encodes the original URL instead of rewriting it.
The 1,024-byte limit is measured after UTF-8 encoding. A letter such as A uses one byte, while many emoji and non-Latin characters use several. ToolNeko rejects unpaired UTF-16 surrogates so the browser cannot silently replace part of the payload before generation.
Error correction and QR version
Error correction helps recover codewords when part of a QR code is dirty or damaged. Higher levels trade capacity for recovery. The encoder chooses the smallest QR Code Model 2 version that fits the payload at the selected level, from Version 1 through Version 40.
| Level | Approximate recovery | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| L | 7% | More capacity in clean conditions |
| M | 15% | Balanced default for common use |
| Q | 25% | More tolerance for wear or dirt |
| H | 30% | Highest available recovery level |
Recovery percentages are approximate and do not guarantee that every damaged code will scan. Camera quality, print size, glare, contrast, distance, and the scanning app also matter.
Sharp PNG and safe SVG output
PNG modules use an integer number of pixels, then ToolNeko centers the symbol inside the selected 256, 512, or 1,024 pixel square. Every generated output enforces at least four pixels per module, following DENSO WAVE guidance to use four or more dots per module for stable operation. If the selected preset is too small for the encoded version and quiet zone, the tool shows output_too_small and names the next offered size instead of silently changing the selection. The 1,024-pixel preset supports this density through Version 40. The receipt reports QR version, matrix dimensions, error correction, quiet zone, pixels per module, and output dimensions so the export can be checked before use.
Every preview and export uses black modules on an opaque white background with a four-module quiet zone. The SVG contains only fixed shapes and numeric matrix geometry; it does not contain the original text or URL as markup, metadata, a filename, or an external reference.
What this generator intentionally leaves out
This page creates static QR images only. It does not create dynamic or trackable codes, shortened links, accounts, saved history, logos, colors, Wi-Fi or vCard templates, bulk files, share links, or server-hosted destinations. It does not scan QR codes, open the camera, select files, or automatically visit the URL inside a code.
For a Wi-Fi network or a business card contact, use the WiFi QR Code Generator or the Business Card QR Code Generator.
To read a QR code from an image or a screenshot, use the QR code scanner.
Frequently asked questions
Does ToolNeko upload the text or URL in my QR code?
No. After the page loads, the QR matrix, preview, PNG, SVG, and clipboard image are created in your browser. The tool does not put your payload in a URL, browser storage, analytics, or a ToolNeko application request.
Which error-correction level should I choose?
M is a practical default. DENSO WAVE describes approximate recovery levels of 7% for L, 15% for M, 25% for Q, and 30% for H. Higher correction uses more modules for the same payload, so the code may become denser.
Why is there white space around the QR code?
That quiet zone is required for reliable detection. ToolNeko always keeps at least four light modules on every side and does not offer a setting that removes it.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
Use PNG for common documents, messages, and slides. Use SVG when you need a vector image that can scale for print. Both exports contain the same black-and-white QR matrix and fixed quiet zone.
Does a QR code hide or encrypt its contents?
No. Anyone who scans the QR code can read its payload. Do not place a password, private token, recovery code, or other secret in a QR code you plan to share.
Why can a selected output size be too small?
ToolNeko requires at least four integer pixels per QR module, following DENSO WAVE guidance to use four or more dots per module for stable operation. If a dense code cannot meet that limit at the selected preset, the tool names the next offered size to choose.
