Pizza area formula

Pizza size is usually listed by diameter. Divide the diameter by two to get radius r, then calculate area with A = πr². A 14-inch pizza has radius 7 inches and area π × 7² ≈ 153.94 square inches.

Price per square inch

Divide price by area to compare circular pizzas of different sizes. This is more accurate than comparing diameters because area grows with the square of radius.

Target area and budget combinations

The calculator tests every combination from 0 to 20 pizzas for each entered option. It keeps only combinations whose total area reaches your target and whose total price stays within budget, then ranks up to five matches.

Assumptions and limits

All pizzas are treated as circles with the same thickness and comparable edible area. Prices must use one currency. The calculation excludes crust deductions, toppings, nutrition, serving estimates, taxes, fees, and changing bundle discounts.

How does the pizza calculator compare sizes?

It calculates circular area with π × (diameter ÷ 2)², then divides price by area. A lower price per square inch means more pizza area for the same currency unit.

Can it compare more than two pizzas?

Yes. Enter up to three sizes and prices. The tool can also combine 0–20 of each option to meet a target area without exceeding your budget.

How are the combinations ranked?

Feasible combinations are ranked by lowest total price, then least area beyond your target, then fewest pizzas.

Does area equal how filling a pizza is?

No. Area is only a geometry-based comparison. Thickness, crust, toppings, weight, and serving preference can change actual food quantity and value.

Does this handle coupons or multi-buy deals?

No. Enter the effective fixed price for each pizza after any discount. The first version does not model minimum orders, percentage coupons, or changing bundle prices.
