Pixels to Inches Converter

Enter pixel width, pixel height, and PPI to see the physical size in inches and centimeters. Compare common PPI values without uploading an image.

Common PPI

PPI is pixels per inch. Choose the value used by your layout or print workflow.

Pixel-to-inch formula

Inches = pixels ÷ PPI. Calculate width and height separately, then multiply each inch value by exactly 2.54 to get centimeters.

Why one image has several possible print sizes

A fixed pixel grid does not define one physical size on its own. At 300 PPI, 1800 × 1200 pixels is 6 × 4 inches. At 96 PPI, the same pixels span 18.75 × 12.5 inches.

Choose the PPI for your workflow

Use the PPI specified by your layout, printer, publication, or production workflow. The 72, 96, 150, and 300 PPI rows are comparisons, not quality ratings or universal recommendations.

What this calculator changes

Nothing is uploaded and no image file is modified. The result is a dimensional reference calculated from the numbers you enter, not a promise about sharpness or final print quality.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert pixels to inches?

Divide the pixel dimension by the PPI value. For example, 1800 pixels divided by 300 PPI is 6 inches.

What size is 1800 by 1200 pixels at 300 PPI?

It is 6 by 4 inches, or 15.24 by 10.16 centimeters. The calculator keeps the width and height in the same order you enter them.

What is the difference between pixels and PPI?

Pixels describe the image dimensions. PPI describes how many pixels are assigned to each inch, so the same pixel dimensions produce a different physical size at a different PPI.

Does changing PPI add or remove pixels?

No. This calculator only reports physical dimensions for the pixel count and PPI you enter. It does not alter an image file.

Does 300 PPI guarantee print quality?

No. PPI is one planning input. Source detail, viewing distance, printer settings, paper, and the print process can also affect the result.
