How to convert kilometers to miles

1 international mile = 1.609344 km exactly. Divide kilometers by 1.609344 to get miles; multiply miles by 1.609344 to get kilometers.

The half-marathon distance of 21.0975 km converts to approximately 13.109379 miles; 42.195 km converts to approximately 26.218757 miles. The widely used 13.1 and 26.2 labels are rounded distances, not the exact metric values.

This tool uses the international land mile, not a nautical mile or a historical survey mile. It converts distances only. A speed such as 60 km/h, a pace such as 5:00 min/km, or an area such as 10 km² needs a different calculation and is not accepted as a distance.
