Exact grams to kilograms formula
One kilogram is exactly 1,000 grams. Convert grams with kg = g ÷ 1,000; convert kilograms with g = kg × 1,000. The result does not need an approximate conversion factor.

Accepted input formats
A number without a unit means grams. You can also use g, gram, grams, kg, kilogram, or kilograms, with spaces or as a compact value such as 1kg250g. Standard US thousands commas are accepted. Negative values, fractions, exponent notation, and other units such as mg, lb, or oz are not accepted.
Batch and CSV limits
Batch mode checks up to 100 non-empty records while retaining the original line numbers and blank rows. Invalid records stay beside their error instead of erasing valid conversions. Copy valid values, copy the complete report, or download spreadsheet-safe CSV. Each amount accepts up to 24 whole-number digits and 18 decimal places; a kilogram input is also rejected if its gram total would exceed that whole-number limit.
Exact decimals and local privacy
The converter uses decimal-based calculation so results do not display binary floating-point artifacts. Conversion and export stay in this browser. Keep the source measurements when a regulated or audited workflow requires its own record.

How do I convert grams to kg?
Divide grams by 1,000. For example, 1,250 g divided by 1,000 is exactly 1.25 kg.
Can I enter kilograms and grams together?
Yes. Paste a value such as 1 kg 250 g or 1kg250g. The result shows exact kilograms, total grams, and normalized kg + g.
What happens when I enter a number without a unit?
A bare number is treated as grams. Add kg when the number is already in kilograms.
