Translate either direction without hidden guessing

Use Text → Morse for letters, digits, and standard punctuation, or switch explicitly to Morse → Text before pasting a code. The tool does not guess the direction from a short string. A valid result appears immediately, while an unsupported character or unknown Morse group is identified at its exact position.

Paste dots and dashes from a phone or message

The decoder accepts ASCII dots and hyphens plus common mobile variants such as ·, , , , and _. One or two spaces separate letters. A slash, a new line, or three spaces starts a new word. The normalized form is shown whenever the pasted version changes.

Hear the same 1–3–7 timing you can download

At 20 WPM, one dot unit lasts 60 milliseconds. A dash lasts three units, the gap inside a character lasts one, the gap between letters lasts three, and the gap between words lasts seven. Playback highlights the current character and signal. Pause keeps the exact elapsed position; Stop returns to the beginning. WAV uses the same selected WPM and a fixed 600 Hz tone.

Canonical copy format

Copied Morse always uses the portable ASCII form: . for a dot, - for a dash, one space between letters, and / between words. This makes the result easier to paste into chat, documents, puzzles, and other Morse tools without depending on a particular font.

Frequently asked questions

How do I translate text into Morse code?

Choose Text → Morse and type English letters, numbers, or supported punctuation. The result updates immediately. One space separates Morse letters and / separates words, so HELLO WORLD becomes two visible groups.

How do I decode Morse code into English?

Choose Morse → Text and paste dots and dashes. Put one or two spaces between letters; use /, a new line, or three spaces between words. The decoder also normalizes common phone-keyboard dots, dashes, bullets, and underscores.

Can this Morse code translator play sound?

Yes. Play uses standard dot, dash, letter, and word timing at 5–40 words per minute with a 600 Hz tone. You can pause at the current signal, resume from that position, stop, or download the same timing as a WAV file.

Why does the translator reject a character or Morse group?

International Morse does not assign a code to every Unicode character, and not every dot-and-dash group is valid. The tool names the exact character position or Morse group instead of silently deleting it or guessing.

Can International Morse represent lowercase letters or non-English alphabets?

Morse does not preserve letter case, so decoded letters are uppercase. This page implements the International Morse A–Z alphabet, digits, and standard punctuation. It does not transliterate Chinese characters or claim support for every national extension.

Is my message uploaded or saved?

Translation, sound playback, and WAV creation stay in your browser. ToolNeko does not send the message to a translation endpoint or place it in a public share URL. If you choose Share, your browser sends the result only to the app or service you select.
