Decimal versus binary labels
Storage vendors and file-transfer limits commonly use decimal KB, MB, and GB. Some operating systems and technical tools use binary-sized values, sometimes while displaying a decimal-looking label. When a limit matters, check whether its documentation says MB or MiB.
Bytes, not bits
This converter treats KB as kilobytes. A lowercase b technically means bits, while uppercase B means bytes. Network speeds such as Mbps need a bit-rate converter and are outside this page.
