ASCII Table

Find any standard ASCII value from 0 to 127, compare four number bases, and copy safe visible table rows.

Private reference: your query and copied table text stay in this tab. ToolNeko does not put them in a URL, storage, cookies, network requests, logs, or analytics.

Decimal uses 0–127. You can also use 0x hex, 0o octal, 0b binary, one printable character, or a standard name such as LINE FEED.

Standard ASCII is a 7-bit code

ASCII assigns 128 values from decimal 0 through 127. The first 32 values are controls, 32 is SPACE, 33 through 126 are graphic characters, and 127 is DELETE. The table follows the control abbreviations and names in RFC 20, with graphic names pinned to Unicode 17.0.0.

Read the 8-bit byte view correctly

The Binary column pads each 7-bit ASCII value to eight positions because bytes are commonly displayed that way. Its high-order bit is always 0. For example, capital A is decimal 65, hex 0x41, octal 0o101, and the 8-bit byte view 01000001.

Search without cross-column surprises

Number forms are exact: 65, 0x41, 0o101, and 0b01000001 all select capital A. An exact abbreviation such as LF takes priority before a name search. Plain digits are decimal codes; find the graphic digit 0 with 0x30, 0o060, 0b00110000, or its formal name.

Copy controls as visible labels

A copied row contains decimal, hex, octal, the 8-bit byte view, character, and name as tab-separated plain text. Invisible control values use bracketed labels: line feed copies as [LF], SPACE as [SP], and DELETE as [DEL]. The page never places a raw C0 control or DELETE byte into copied fields.

Why extended ASCII is excluded

Values 128 through 255 do not belong to standard ASCII. CP437, Windows-1252, ISO-8859-1, and other encodings assign different characters to that range, so combining them under one “extended ASCII” label would hide the encoding choice. Use an encoding-specific reference when those bytes matter.

Private, fixed, and available without scripts

All 128 rows are part of the page before JavaScript runs. JavaScript only adds filtering and explicit clipboard actions. The dataset is fixed, makes no runtime source request, and sends no query, code, character, name, count, or copied payload to analytics.

Frequently asked questions

How many characters are in standard ASCII?

Standard ASCII has 128 code positions, numbered 0 through 127. It is a 7-bit coded character set: 32 positions are controls, 94 are visible graphic characters, one is SPACE, and one is DELETE.

Why does the binary column contain eight bits?

The table shows each 7-bit ASCII value in a common 8-bit byte view. The high-order bit is always 0, so decimal 65 appears as 01000001. This display does not redefine ASCII as an 8-bit standard.

Can I search by decimal, hexadecimal, octal, or binary?

Yes. Enter a decimal value from 0 to 127, or use 0x for hexadecimal, 0o for octal, or 0b for binary. You can also search by one printable character, a control abbreviation such as LF, or a name such as line feed.

What happens when I copy a control character?

Control rows copy a visible bracketed label such as [LF], never the raw invisible control byte. This makes pasted table rows inspectable and avoids unintended tabs, line breaks, or device-control effects.

Does this include extended ASCII?

No. Extended ASCII is not one standard: CP437, Windows-1252, ISO-8859-1, and other code pages assign different meanings above 127. This page stays within standard US-ASCII 0 through 127.

Is my search saved or sent anywhere?

No. Filtering and copying run in this browser tab. ToolNeko does not place the query, matching codes, names, result count, or copied text in URLs, storage, cookies, network requests, logs, or analytics.
